Assessment
Involves:
- medical and family history
- physical examination
- interviews with parents, child and child's teacher
- behaviour rating scales
- observation of the child

psychological tests which look at thinking and learning as well as and
social and emotional adjustment, as well as screening for learning
disabilities
Treatment:
There is no "quick fix" when treating ADD/ADHD. Effective treatment requires several basic components, including:
- Education about the disorder
- Training in the use of behaviour management
- Medication when indicated
